Why DSL technology have distance limitation?or it is distance sensitive?

Why DSL technology have distance limitation,what makes it? And why it is called Digital subscriber line,as data at both ends is travell’s in the analog form thru optical cable/copper cable?

    Distance Sensitive.. the farther you are from the main service connection the worse the connection and transfer speed will be. Also if the telephone company has piggy backed any of the lines you are tied into, that will also reduce your connection speed.
