Cable is fastest @ 6 mb. DSL is 1.5 mb.

It looks like you are trying to setup your internet connection in Windows. The best way to connect is whatever your service provider tells you.

If you are wondering what type of ISP to go with, it depends on your area. Generally cable will be the fastest, but DSL is more consistent. In certain areas fiber optic lines are available. Fiber has the capability to leave all other wired service in the dust.

In my case, I would have to consider first what I can afford. But if that is not a problem then you might want to go for [cable, the satellite, wireless, ADSL,] [with different speed offerings], dial-up.
