What modem with wireless router will work with Comcast Internet?

sandra asked:

I’m switching from at&t to comcast for internet and phone and wanted to know what modem (with built in wireless router) will work. Comcast will install they’re modem (only for one hard-wired computer) and I have to purchase either a wireless router to hook up to the modem they give me or buy another modem with a built in wireless router. Any suggestions??

your ISP should be able to provide one for you, thereby eliminating the need to search for one

All modems provided by your ISP should work perfectly fine. Don’t waist money on buying a modem. That’s all it is, a waist of money. When it comes to routers, the best are Linksys, US Robotics, D-Link and Netgear. Any of these will work good for your cable connection.

    Good luck

place a linksys wireless router in line before the hard wired computer and then, plug your wired computer into the back.
get the N since it has a lot more distance.

Get the Comcast modem and buy your own Linksys WRT54G router – $55.

Also, for best results with your Router, make SURE it’s not within 3 feet of ANY electronics…consider it inside a 3 foot bubble and nothing can come in near those 3 feet.
