What is a better connection WiFi or cable broadband?

metallic moment asked:

If a WiFi connection is coming from somewhere and seems to be pretty good, is it best to just use that? Or, should you opt to connect to a network via wireless router to a secure cable network? What is the best connection for a WiFi enabled laptop?

    wireless internet

Depends on what ur doing on the internet… if you are making *banking transactions* then you had better be using a secured network, (your own). If you are just trolling the internet, then doesnt really matter.

Is if free(neighbor)? at some point that connection may be secured and you will lose it.

in your case you will get the same results, the bottleneck to access the internet will be your ISP which controls how fast you can download/upload data, this is way below wiFi or Cable broadband limits, so in ur case its the same.

Now, if you asked, which is faster to transfer large files (ie photos) from my notebook to my desktop? then a hardwired solution beats a wirless solution all the time.

    cable

Anything non-wireless is always the best. Even DSL. ** Gags at saying that ** But if wireless works for you.. Then I say do it.

    satellite internet services

Depends on whether you think you deserve to use someone else’s connection without paying or whether you think you should pay for your own internet service.

    satellite internet access

The two types of broadband internet connections generally available are DSL and Cable. Cable is the faster and more expensive of the two.

You would use a Wi-Fi wireless router to connect your (Wi-Fi enabled) home computers to your Cable or DSL modem.

If a WiFi connection is coming from somewhere then you’re connecting to a neighbors unsecured network. Its not best to use that because you have no control over it, you could be cut off or shut down at anytime, but if you’re willing to take that chance I guess its up to you.

Wi-Fi allows you to connect pretty fast to your internet connection but for the fastest speed you should connect your computer directly to your broadband modem with an with an ethernet cable.

hi, when there is a cable connection available it will be the best.
if you want to use your laptop freely at home you can connect a wireless router to the cable connection, but remember that you should set a strong security parameters to make it hard for others intruders.
