I do not have a phone line and I am looking for internet service. What are my options besides broadband internet through the cable company?

Satellite. Everything else (dial-up, DSL) needs a phone line. You can probably get DSL without having a landline phone.

There is now Wireless internet service in many outlying areas of the US. It’s about as fast as DSL, and usually about the same price.
The only downside is that you do have to have a line-of-sight view of the tower the signal is sent from, and the receiver isn’t usually very small or pretty (think about the same size as a digital dish receiver).
Look in your local yellow pages for internet service and see if any list wireless internet.

Just about all of the cellular carriers sell wireless “aircards” that can be installed on your PC or Laptop if you have a PCMCIA interface. And you basically can surf the net anywhere you can get a cellular signal. It works like a cell phone where you purchase a plan, either for measured or unlimited usage, and enter into a contract with them. They may give you a deal on the card or you might have to pay full price. I have used the service for TMobile, Sprint and Verizon. In my experience Sprint and Verizon offered service with broader coverage and faster connections, while TMobile’s service was more affordable.
