Aright, so i have my computer in my basement and don’t want it there anymore – instead i want to put it in my bedroom. The thing is that in my basement, there’s a tv and there is this white wire connected from my modem to the back of the tv. I took this white wire out once to see if the internet would work since I’m not gonna have a tv anywhere near my room – and it didn’t. So obviously the cable is hooked upto the modem. So how do i get internet in my room without using a cable wire?. My cousin has optimum in his room without a cable wire. The obvious thing would be to call optimum but my main question is what exactly do i ask for after i speak with optimum?

what you want is to set up a wirless system ….belking has the whole lot you can buy at best buy or walmart siple plug and play and cheap money for both components one you hook to your modem into a router the other just plug in usb of pc fun fun fun …then if you decide you don’t want it in bedroom and want it in like the bathroom or where eva then no wires to connect good luck
its called a wireless router. I would say an Apple Airport would be fine. They take your internet and send it over the air wirelessly. It’s the new think. I have it and most of the US has it. There are also hundreds of other router makers. You can also secure it with WPA encryption which keeps other wifi users out. Just hook it to your modem via Ethernet, and set it up. Your router will have instruction on this.
This actually isn’t new, I’ve used WiFi for about 3 years and its never let me down.
Also if your computer isn’t wifi ready (it doesn’t have a wireless receiver built in), you can buy a usb reciever
and this will pick up the wifi from down stairs. You can also use this receiver to pick up other network, like at a hotel or coffee shop. But I would recommend a notebook card
if your on a laptop. This is the same thing except it plugs into another port on your computer. There is also PCI card wich plug into the back of your desktop’s CPU.
HOPE THIS HELPS
