    dsl service

try downloading any small file from the internet…like a song or a picture…something of size atleast 3 MB….note the download speed….for example, if yours is a 256 kbps connection, u should get like 30 to 32 kbps download speed…watever download speed u get, multiply that by 8 and see if it comes near to the speed that u applied for….if yes, then ur plan has been upgraded….that should help.

Best is call your ISP and verify it with them.

Depending on your ISP billing cycle, the change in plan should take effect in the next billing cycle not immediately.

For example its the 5th for my service provider then if I requested a change in plan last 29th of september then I should be having my unlimited access tomorrow the 5th of October.

if you have a speed test program in your country, use one that you are close to,it should show upload download speeds, it also may not be the ISP that is causing a slow connection, if you are trying to get files from U.K to China there is lag (due to the amount of hops are required to get from a-b) so you can always run a traceroute from the command prompt, the the ip address of the site(www.yahoo.com has an ip address but you can type DNS will change it to an ip address) this will show you hops in the route and any lag, and where it is, this also will help the ISP diagnose if it is them or someone that is outside of the service providers cloud.

    Good Luck
