How many remote desktop sessions can you have working on one t1 and one server?

Evan W asked:

We have around 32-35 remote desktop users (outside of office) logging into one server. Every morning around the same time when everyone is logging in, users complain of sessions freezing or restarting. We have tested the T1 and the ISP reports no errors. Our network looks like this T1-> Linksys Firewall/Router -> Windows Server. What could be causing the end users to experience freezing?

I would strongly suspect the Linksys “router”. Its CPU probably max out under the load. Get a real firewall. I had good results with SonicWall.

I would agree, Linksys router is the problem. Look for a router with a good high throughput. Probably if you don’t already have, a dual NIC setup with balancing.
