    high speed access

Some rural areas offer Satellite Internet. I don’t know if it’s phone included, but maybe! See if there are any providers in your area! GOod luck!

You can get satellite internet just about anywhere you have a sky and aren’t too far from the equator (like on the North Slope of Alaska).

If you have a good cellular signal there, you can get wireless broadband from the cellphone company.

If you can get access to land that’s both line of sight to yours and near cable (or DSL), you can get a connection there and shoot it a few miles to your property by wireless (the longest haul on record is about 300 miles, but that was done to see if it could be done – I wouldn’t recommend it for daily use).

It really depends on where you are. For instance in a lot of areas in Nevada you can find Wireless Internet.

So you should probably check with people in your target area and see what they are doing.

Cellular is an option but it and Satellite will be more expensive then Wireless if it is available, also Wireless will be faster.

Be cafeful if your dealing with a large telco, they may think DSL is available(because they are two states away) and ship you equipment only to find out a month later it’s not available. This happened to me when I tried to help a friend in Nevada.

If you can, ask your neighbors what is working for them.

Wireless is a definite possibility. The main cost is the setup…they have to put up a tower. This is the major cost. From there, it’s standard rates for the HS, with the possibility of a bandwidth cap, after which they charge you through the nose. The main limitation of the system is geography. If you are in the middle of hills, it won’t work very well, or they have to build a ridiculously tall tower. In your in a forest, they will have to build the tower tall enough to go over the trees. If either one of these issues pertain to your situation then you will likely have to go with satellite.

As to phone…a lot of Internet companies are offering some form of VoIP service that can work directly over the Internet, without talking to your telco. The main issue is quality of the line. Some have excellent quality, other have no quality at all.

Shop around, talk to some “local” IT guys and see who they might recommend. Basically do your research and you should be able to get something reasonably economical.

    Hope this helps.
