Standard Cat 5 Ethernet cable is all you need but make sure that your model of router is compatible with the 360. Some are not. If you go to the official xbox site.

you can look for your model of router.
If its not in the list you can still try.

Also ethernet cable is fairly cheap and if you go to 3btech.org
you can find it real cheap here at whatever length.

Just plug one end (looks like a phone line) into the router and the other into the xbox. make sure you have an xbox live account as well.

    Good luck!!

Go to your local electronics store and ask them for a CAT 5 Ethernet cable… Tell them you want a regular one and NOT A CROSSOVER cable.

You may pay a little more if you go to BestBuy or Circuit City. Also depending on the length you will need thay might not have it!!!
Also, DO NOT GO TO Radio Shack, you will pay thru the nose
See below for a link to a tigerdirect search.
Another good cheap place to get them would be a local electrical supply house.

Also it may not be as simple as just hooking the cable up, you may need to make additional settings on your router.

You will need a cat5 ethernet cable. You can find them prebuilt and most office supple stores, wal-mart, and even home building supple stores like Lowes and Home Depot. Just make sure that your wireless router accepts hardwire plug ins (check for open RJ45 jacks in the back of the router) and that you know the length of cable that you need. It’s more cost effective to go with the wire, but you have to consider foot traffic and if the cable will be a danger to friends and family.
