    What OS is on the old machine? If it is at least better than Win 98 just use a usb wireless adapter. They are cheap and you don’t’ have to open the machine. If it is Win 98 update the OS.

    You can purchase a USB wireless flash drive and insert into your usb port. Linksys makes them.

    Find a WIRELESS router that best fits your needs as far as speed goes. (as far as the brand I suggest Netgear)

    If your computer did not come with a wireless network card (AKA. wireless adapter) Then you need to purchase one. (I suggest getting one that matches your router)

    (for desktop computers you can get a USB Wireless adapter instead of a card)
